September 17 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

A coalition of Victory Hill Therapeutic Horsemanship, Clear Path for Veterans, The Motorcyclepedia Museum, the American Legion Riders of Orange County, NY, and the Orange County American Legion, with the support of the Hudson Valley Honor Flight, the Orange County Chamber of Commerce, and Moroney’ s Harley-Davidson, will run a two-part event to benefit veterans and their communities in the Hudson Valley on Sunday, September 17th, from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

First is the “Bets 4 Vets” poker run from the Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Goshen – through Wurtsboro, Ellenville, and Pine Bush – to the public reception at the Motorcyclepedia Museum in Newburgh, NY, on simultaneously from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Ride registration at the Cemetery is from 9:00-9:45; kickstands go up at 10:00. Donations for riders and passengers is $30. Whether at the ride registration or the reception, ride fundraiser donors receive free entry to the Museum that day.

Second, the reception fundraiser benefits the start-up of the new joint Victory Hill and Clear Path therapeutic services facility in Orange County, NY. The facility is combining the impressive equities of these two well-established community and veteran wellness organizations to the great social benefit of the Hudson Valley. Beyond assisting veterans and others who have served in uniform and experienced trauma, the facility will help children as well as adults with a broad range of special needs, providing the Hudson Valley’s highest quality equine and canine assisted services in a supportive and inclusive environment.

At the same time, proceeds from the Orange County American Legion Riders poker run go to fund high school seniors and young veterans to escort Vietnam-era and other veterans on Hudson Valley Honor Flight missions to see the monuments in our nation’s capital in their honor and receive a long awaited “welcome home.” These youth will have a unique, first-hand opportunity to meet these heroes and gain a greater understanding of the meaning and value of patriotism and service, helping to pass the baton of leadership from one generation of Americans to the next. Moroney’s is graciously providing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes.

In addition to its fundraising aspects, the event will help raise public awareness of veteran and community social wellness issues, what organizations like Victory Hill, Clear Path and the American Legion are doing, and how the public can help. To learn more and make direct donations, visit the tables at the reception. Whether riders or non-riders, all are welcome to enjoy an array of food and drink, tour and shop at the Museum, take part in the raffles, and enjoy the Energy 103 FM live-feed broadcast from 11:00 to 1:00pm.

The coalition is also offering sponsorship opportunities for the therapeutic facility to interested and generous Hudson Valley area businesses, foundations, non-profit organizations, and individual donors at five levels: Platinum ($5,000); Gold ($2,500); Silver ($1,000); Bronze ($500), and Iron ($250).

For more on the event and sponsorship options, see the event and sponsorship flyers posted on the Clear Path and Victory Hill websites or social media pages. For more details on the poker run, go the OC Legion Rider Facebook page.
